For Providers

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a private practice in North Seattle, offering individual psychotherapy to adults throughout Washington State via telehealth. I welcome referrals from psychiatrists, primary care providers, DBT and intensive programs, and colleagues looking for longer-term, depth-oriented work for their clients.

WHO I WORK WITH

Most of the people I work with have a sense that what they're dealing with has roots that go deeper than the presenting problem, and they're looking for a therapy that takes that seriously.

Personality disorders and relational difficulties
This is the heart of my work. My particular focus is adults with personality disorders, including borderline personality organisation, and the emotional intensity and relational difficulties that so often come with them. My specialist training here is in Mentalization-Based Treatment through the Gunderson Personality Disorders Institute at McLean Hospital. I find the work is a particularly good fit for clients stepping down from DBT or intensive programs who are ready for something longer-term and relational, and for people who've done skills-based work and now want to understand the patterns underneath.

Trauma
My trauma work draws on two strands of training: the somatic and body-based work that ran through my UK training with CCPE, and a year-long certificate in Integrative Trauma Studies through the National Institute for the Psychotherapies in New York, which brought relational, somatic and depth-oriented approaches together. In practice, that means paying attention to what the body is holding as well as what the mind remembers.

Grief and bereavement
Grief work has been part of my practice from the very beginning. I started out at Kingston Bereavement Service in London, and more recently I've facilitated grief and loss groups at Verdant. I work with both recent and long-standing losses, including the kind of grief that gets tangled up with a difficult relationship with the person who died.

Separation and divorce
I often work with adults going through complicated separations and divorces, which can stir up everything from grief to old attachment wounds. I'm glad to be a steady presence through the process, though I don't provide custody evaluations, court letters or testimony, as I'm not trained as an expert witness.

Ketamine-assisted treatment
I've supported a number of clients with integration during and after ketamine-assisted treatment, and I work alongside the treating clinic, with the client's consent, so that the pieces fit together.

TRAINING

My formation as a therapist has been a long one. I completed five years of clinical training in the United Kingdom, including a diploma through a UKCP and BACP accredited programme and a master's degree in counselling and psychotherapy awarded by the University of Northampton, with a dissertation on Bion's concept of containment. I went on to complete a second master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Antioch University in Seattle. My clinical experience spans NHS settings, community bereavement and women's services in London, and private practice on both sides of the Atlantic.

I have specialist post-graduate training in Mentalization-Based Treatment through the Gunderson Personality Disorders Institute at McLean Hospital, training in AEDP, psychoanalytic training at the William Alanson White Institute, and a year-long certificate in Integrative Trauma Studies through the National Institute for the Psychotherapies in New York.

CLINICAL APPROACH

My training is integrative in the genuine sense: not a loose combination of techniques, but a considered clinical foundation built across years of study, supervision, and practice in multiple contexts and traditions. The work is grounded in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic thinking, attending to unconscious process, to the therapeutic relationship, and to the ways in which early experience continues to organise adult life, and draws on MBT and AEDP where they serve the client.

In practice, the approach is always responsive to the individual. There is no single protocol applied uniformly.

WHEN I MAY NOT BE THE RIGHT FIT

I work with individual adults only, and I'm not a crisis service. Clients who need a higher level of care, such as frequent crisis support or intensive outpatient treatment, will be better served elsewhere first. I'm glad to take them on once they're ready for weekly outpatient work.

WORKING TOGETHER

With the client's written consent, I'm happy to coordinate with psychiatrists, prescribers, primary care providers, and programs, and I value hearing from referring providers about what they have observed.

PRACTICAL DETAILS

All sessions are via telehealth for adults located in Washington State. Sessions are 50 minutes, and my fee is $160. I am currently out of network and provide monthly superbills for clients with out-of-network benefits, and a sliding scale is available. I see clients Tuesday to Thursday, 8am to 3pm.

MAKING A REFERRAL

The quickest way to reach me is by text or phone on (425) 842-1580, or by email at mykelziolo@pm.me. Please don't include identifying client information in a first message. A brief outline of what the client is looking for is enough for me to let you know whether I have space and whether I'm likely to be a good fit.
